Our Inspection Process

Thorough, Efficient, Minimal Disruption

HESWA’s on-site inspection process is designed to be thorough, efficient and cause minimal disruption to your lifting operations. Here is how it works.

1

Scheduling & site assessment

We coordinate a convenient time with your team and assess the scope of equipment to be inspected, planning the inspection around your operational schedule.

2

Visual inspections

Our qualified inspectors carry out detailed visual inspections of each item, checking for wear, corrosion, cracks, deformation and any other defects that could compromise safety.

3

Functional & operational testing

Where applicable, equipment is functionally tested for safe working operation — including brake checks on hoists, load-bearing assessments and operational cycling.

4

Non-destructive testing

For critical components, we offer NDT methods including magnetic particle, ultrasonic and eddy current testing to detect subsurface flaws without damaging equipment.

5

Tagging & certification

All equipment that passes receives colour-coded inspection tags and certificates of compliance. Test certificates are issued upon completion for your records.

6

Detailed report & register

You receive a detailed report on every item inspected, plus access to HESWA’s free online lifting & rigging register to download certificates and load testing documentation any time.

7

Repair & replacement recommendations

Any equipment that does not pass is quarantined and tagged as out of service. We provide a quote for repair or replacement so you can return to compliance quickly — items requiring repair, load testing or recertification can be sent to our in-house facility in Welshpool.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should lifting equipment be inspected?

It is good practice to inspect lifting and rigging equipment prior to each use. In addition, it is standard industry practice and, in some cases, an Australian Standard requirement to have your lifting equipment inspected and documented every 3 months.

This is where HESWA Hyperlift steps in. With our experienced mobile inspection team and online lifting equipment register, we can take care of all of your lifting, rigging and height safety equipment inspection compliance requirements. HESWA’s proactive scheduling system sends reminders before your inspections are due, making it easy to stay on top of your obligations.

What happens if equipment fails inspection?

Any equipment that does not meet the relevant Australian Standards is immediately quarantined and tagged as out of service. You receive a detailed report outlining the defects found, along with a quote for repair or replacement. HESWA can carry out repairs, load testing and recertification at our in-house facility, or supply replacement equipment from our comprehensive range of lifting, rigging and height safety products.

What documentation do I receive after inspection?

Upon completion, you receive colour-coded inspection tags on each item, certificates of compliance, and test certificates where applicable. All documentation is also uploaded to HESWA’s free online lifting and rigging register, giving you 24/7 access to download your certificates, detailed reports and complete equipment register.

Do you inspect height safety equipment as well?

Yes. HESWA inspects harnesses, lanyards, karabiners, anchor systems and self-retracting lifelines in accordance with AS/NZS 1891. Height safety equipment is subject to the same rigorous inspection process and receives certifications and tagging upon completion.

What areas in Western Australia do you service?

HESWA services Perth metropolitan and regional Western Australia. Our team regularly conducts equipment inspections at mining sites, construction projects and industrial facilities throughout WA. Contact us to discuss your location and requirements.
